I like your models and your shots. I think the second shot appeals a touch more than the first but l don't really know why.

I can't tell any difference. They look exactly the same to me, but maybe it's my 61 year old eyes.

I think the second shot is just a very slight tad brighter.

I think the 2nd may have somewhat smoother texture to it but I could be wrong . They are very similar if not identical.
Nice shot.

They are beautiful models. Good picture too.

I do prefer the eyes, mouth and hair to be sharp.
Compared to the second one the first one seems to be sharper.

The skin can be a bit softer to hide any blemishes.

There are no blemishes on their skin on both versions. The second one it seems softer then needed (in my opinion).

Therefore I go for the first one.

Thanks for posting.

There really is quite a big difference. Did you view the enlarged versions?

Nice photos. Which lighting setup did you use? I always read that the A55 is of no use with studio flashes so curious to know what you used.

Yes, I'm looking at the enlarged versions. Brightness, sharpness, I can't tell the difference.

The second photo has a "glow" effect which can be pleasing. Yet this was a sharpening filter?

I think I prefer #1
In reply to Andi Buchner, May 13, 2012

I think the contrast in the second photo, particularly for the model on our right, is too high. Since her cheekbone headlights are so high, in the second photo I think she has almost gotten a reverse racoon look. The white around (but particularly below) her eyes is so bright that it looks a little off (to me).

Skin is also a little better in the first, particularly on the model on our right. Her throat goes too bright and too hard in the second photo.

There are most certainly more than one light in play her (did you bounce?). If the rest of the light is ambient, your balance is excellent.

Would love to hear more about filters used.

Look carefully. The first is a tad bit warmer color wise with a touch more orange maybe?

Not a big difference at all but the first is a bit warmer color wise.

I like the 1st one as well. Flash is far too noticeable in the second photo on the cheekbones of the right model the chest of the left model.
