That is just over 5 stops of stabilization... pretty good!

I'm not surprised at all. In your country people walk over hot ashes. For you, guys, holding camera steady is trifle :-).

Arijit,

I like it very much -- great pose and very interesting subject. What a joy it is to be able to go out into the natural world with a K5+DA*300 and be confident that we can capture such interesting subjects as this in a wide range of conditions. Great work as always.

Maybe te DA*300mm needs it's own forum!

I love mine and it tends to be the long(ish) lens of choice for my walks. Not too heavy so easily handheld, superb image quality retained even when cropping.... what's not to like?

Nice work as always Arijit, especially given the lighting forcing you to use such a low shutter speed, handheld. Keep the images coming.

Proves the lie that in-body SR is not so effective on long glass.

I think the difference is more the shooter, With optical visual feedback of the damping the photographer holds the camera better.

If you think what your doing then in-body SR matches OS across all focal lengths.

Not sure ( I could match you crystal sharp 5 stop s below) but I'm quite happy getting 3-4 with the same lens.

As to the shot its great very in the moment.

I guess that's why all the professional Nikon sports shooters are ditching their stabilised long glass and camera bodies and going Pentax.

I mean it's a good "in the moment" shot but would you seriously choose 'in camera' over 'in lens' stabilisation if your livelihood depended on it? I sure as heck would not.

So far, i have been happy with the SR. i have had the occasion to try IS/OS/VR glass & that too is nice.

However, I wont marry stabilization (body/ lens based). If push comes to shove- I will live without it, just in the way, i believe I can do without AF. Is it Welcome? Yes. Essential? - No.
