id b real bummed if we didnt have pentax as a brand to choose from. i checked out the k-01 today at the local camera store, its a very nice unit. thats one solid brick. im actually happy so many people hate the looks, bc it will b that much more of an advantage to have one. afterall, its not a fashion show right? all that matters is how our pics look.

yea clearly lol. heres a 1600iso (pre pentax NR) and 12k iso comparison. u can CLEARLY

No, I don't "clearly" see better noise at ISO 1600. Everything above in your link is RAW NR (dxomark), and 5N is clearlt sharper at base ISO

Re: Fuji is great stuff but...

I'm not here to bash Canon. We're talking about Fuji. The images do APPEAR to show some pretty amazingly low noise results but that is making certain assumptions about the "RAW" images. Even very recent history here on DPR shows what happens when a RAW image is not properly processed for display. Either Fuji is doing some major RAW NR or somebody did it in post.

I could be wrong about that but I doubt it.

no sir u are not wrong there. pixel pitch plays the most important role in determining noise in the hardware side of things. to have that many MP on a 4:3 sensor creates a very small pixel pitch, and without astute NR it would look like an a77.

Update! X-Pro1 Samples now corrected
In reply to mervis50, May 9, 2012

Our hosts published the first set samples based upon an incorrect workflow.

New comparisons available. The K-01 still compares impressively well at 800!SO (Raw).

No sharpening in RAW samples.
In reply to strata83, May 9, 2012

That would be great if we were talking about processed JPEG's that have been sharpened. These are RAW samples that have not undergone any sharpening.
