Crazy Tricolor Heron chicks.
May 8, 2012

Over the past few weeks I've been out to the rookeries south of Orlando, Florida behind a tourist place called Gatorland. They have some of the finest wading bird rookeries in the world. Earlier I posted some I'd taken of Snowy Egret chicks feeding from dad and attempting more.

Tonight, I thought I'd put up some of my attempts at Tricolor Heron chicks, some I've just taken lately and some of previous seasons at the same place. I do my best to capture these birds in humorous poses as befits the nature of these wading birds. They are just fun loving creatures and much smarter than you might think. I always enjoy putting a caption with each image but I'll let you do that if you wish.

As usual, thank you my friends for looking.

The next two images are of a young Tricolor who's hoping to woo the ladies at the next school dance. He doesn't understand how out of style that mullet cut hair style is.

These aren't long out of the egg. There's actually two. Can you spot them?

Stealth Heron wannabe

A couple of the same bird from the past. One of my favorites of a Tricolor chick.

Nice pictures, that juvenile heron looks funny with the mullet cut hair style.

Thank you for posting.

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone.

Doc, you're right. I just thought the leaves made him look like he was trying to hide; my own interpretation.
