This looks awesome. I tried last night too same camera, same lens, no tripod so it didn't come out even close to this nice.

great shot
which I was able to get a few of the moon last night the skys were overcast
tonight the moon is out but not as big as the previous night but quite bright

That's very easy. Do this:

  • Use spot metering

  • Use the lowest ISO you can

  • Crop the final image to 100%

  • Apply some sharpening

You don't need a tripod for this neither a fancy lens. But the higher the resolution the better.
