And I'm probably guilty for not shooting the resort the way it deserves.

Here's a pair from my stroll in town of today, taken with a manual focus pentax 50mm f/1.7

I had to get a closer look at the tree I photographed last week. It was a quick foray due to the Pollen in the air.

Do you have the images posted?

My Sigma 19mm should be here in a couple days. GRIN

E-M5's portrait
In reply to SLOtographer, May 7, 2012

Took a portait of my E-M5 with my G3. Not an easy photo to take for some reason. I think my G3 didn't like being pointed at its replacement.

E-M5 in B+w...

The second photo reminds me of the closing of the Jimmy Durante show. His closing line would be "Goodnight Mrs Cavendish, wherever you are." He would then walk upstage pausing at each spotlight.

I meant the 2nd of my images but in retrospect, the only similarity is that they're both very green.
Congrats with the sigma.

The first has a touch of Joan Miro about it. The last is nice too, I'd have been interested to see comparitive shots between the EM5 and the EP2 on this subject, Up to the last there's not a huge difference in IQ to my eyes but there is noise in that final EP2 image. Do you feel the EM5 is worth the money?

Well, the EM5 is supposed to be all singing and dancing.

I'm considering and EM5 but not having handled or even seen one I can't decide on the colour. I prefer the black but think the silver looks best with the 45mm or 12mm.

A disant blur - memories of childhood
In reply to SLOtographer, May 7, 2012

At the park with my 12 month old daughter this weekend, I was in a metal tube/tunnel thing, waiting for her to wander by, but she got distracted and never made it. However a random kid walked by and I snapped before I realised it wasn't her.

Wouldn't normally post an image of a random kid, but there's no way of identifying who he is.

I like the circles, the grass and the decorated barbed wire. The first abstract is interesting (though a bit reminiscent of the Waffen SS Siegrune).

Re: Luminaria Arts Night
In reply to Wormsmeat, May 7, 2012

Is it worth the money? Interesting question.

The handling, focus, IS and IQ are clearly better than my E-P/L2 cameras. I'm certainly happy with the new camera. It is a real joy to shoot when doing street/event type stuff. However I will be shooting with both the M5 and P2 cameras side-by-side until I can afford another body.

If the E-M5 body were 10-15% cheaper I would not hesitate to recommend upgrading. The problem is that you can get very competent m4/3 cameras for half the price of the E-M5. I don't have any of the 3 series Pens or the new Panasonic cameras but they probably compare more favorably to the E-M5. If you don't have a pressing need for the new features then my advice is to wait. The price will come down and competition will provide other alternatives which may be better or cheaper.

One other thing I should have mentioned about the images is that they are processed from Raw files. I bypassed my regular workflow of using LR 4 because the E-M5 Raw format is not yet recognized. Normally I would cleanup the noise in the E-P2 images in LR. In this case I used ACR/CS5 and missed doing the noise reduction step. It just proves that I'm a creature of habit.
