Animals in the park (legacy lenses)
In reply to SLOtographer, May 5, 2012

This beautiful clear but cold morning I went for another walk in the Frederiksberg Park, this time bringing along a selection of legacy glass.

One of the great features of the park is that one has s direct view of the elephant area of Copenhagen Zoo without having to pay entrance

First a shot of the whole area with a c-mount Cosmicar 25mm f/1.9:

Another shot from the exact same spot, this time using a mirror reflex Rubinar 8/500 Macro. Amazing what a 20x difference in focal length does:

The geese didn't like the idea of me going too close to their youngs, so I again relied on the 500mm monster. I am again pleasantly surprised by the sharpness, but the donut bokeh of the grass in the background is a bit distracting:

Lovely, liked all, the elephant looks old, and this one will gain with a bit of sharpening in my view, the duck is also good, and this one is sharp

I tried sharpening the one of the elephant more, but it didn't really help. I think the problem is rather that I was either a bit off focus or more likely that I didn't watch the shutter speed carefully - trying to use a 500mm lens handheld with a shutter speed of 1/100s is a bit too optimistic.

Mayday, Mayday, Mayday
In reply to SLOtographer, May 5, 2012

This is Mayday week in the UK. The first Mayday was the call to save water because of the drought...answered by buckets from above. Then the Mayday Local Government Elections where the people spoke...(in buckets to the ruling classes).....and then Mayday on the streets where I live....where they collect money in buckets.

This is the Green Party....the Tree Man and the Green Men. It is a West-Country tradition to go around beating trees with big sticks

And on to the Morris-Men (apparently banned from appearing at the 2012 Olympics as they are too British)

I thought of an old Beatles tune when I took this...

and finally the Man with the Golden Gun sharing out the lolly...

All from the time expired GF1 and mandraulic Voigtlander 25mm f0.95

Incidentally, if you can get to Bristol there is a mega city-wide photo exhibition going on now...including the guerilla photography exhibitions.....

First real outing with E-M5. I didn't do so great but I do love this camera. Still more to learn and will take a but to get used to after so long with the E-PL1.

Broadway at Union Station. just starting...

Customs House

Here comes the crowd

some close-ups

Gumby !?

Last but definitely not least... They had a band performing each mile of the race. This group was on mile 3.
