Nice shooting Dez. I like the last one the best. It sure is a fancy public library. I would still rather do my searching for information online. Much faster. Dave

Amazing Dez. Cabinet maker this end and that work is stunning. Excellent shots to show this off so well and love the lighting, incredible.

All the best Dez and wonderful shots and work. Amazed at the beauty of this library.

Danny.

Worry about the image that comes out of the box, rather than the box itself.

Like them all, but the last one of the couple on the bench is killer. Very nice work.

I have to agree... Exquisite library. And a great image set. Love the symmetry of #4 and the colors of the ceiling. Wow! Even a non-reader could enjoy that place!

Another WOW! Makes me want to go to NY just for the library. That camera can certainly produce...in the right hands. More and more I turn to something lighter after a morning w/ my D90. Perhaps a NEX in my future?

Another one of America's fine public libraries
In reply to DezM, May 7, 2012

I thought viewers might be interested in another one of America's fine public libraries, this one the Boston Public Library, the first free municipal library in the the United States. These images are of the oldest part of the library, the McKim Building, completed in 1848.

This, and the matching sculpture on the other side of the entrance to the McKim Building, were the work of a Boston sculptor, Bella Pratt.

The vestibule of the McKim Building.

Entrance Hall, McKim Building:

These sculptures on the main staircase are the work of American sculptor, Louis St Gaudens.

These murals on the main staircase are by French artist Pierre Puvis de Chavannes.

This sculptor, placed in a dark corner, I could learn nothing about but thought I would add it here anyway.

This from the (poorly lit) Sargent Gallery, is the work of John Singer Sargent.

The ceiling of the Bates Hall of the McKim Building.

I would be interested if anybody has taken photographs of their public library.

@hewitt...another fantastic series of library images and a bit of history as well. It's difficult to select a favorite among these images. Inside I marveled at the work of sculptor, the stairs, the lion all in one shot. Sculpture hidden in a dark corner was well done, too. Nice colors in murals.

Perhaps someone should start a "show us your library" series?
