This is the link from Dpreview news about the Canon 5D Mk III http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/05/02/Canon-EOS-5d-Mark-III-light-leak-fixed-Roger-Cicala

and a fix for a light leak. This is a link to the blog regarding the fix. http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2012/05/the-fix-is-in . Do you plan to take apart your A77 to see if it is the same?

Not sure if serious???

You do know it was causing metering issues that you can detect without opening up the camera.. which is not something I'd recommend to anyone at home!

The Sony does not have a light leak.

So why would you do this?

I don't understand the question.

If a Sony camera had that kind of a flaw Canikon fans would be making sure it was top news at 5:00.

We have to remember that EVERYTHING Canon does is simply the best that can be done. If Canon has a fault the other guys, especially Sony, just has to have the same fault only worse.

Why would I go trying to fix something that's not broken?

And IF I did go buying a brand new camera and found out it was broken by design, I'd damned sure be pretty angry if I had to go fixing it myself!!!

You have to know the difference...
In reply to acdtech, May 4, 2012

You need to understand how things work on the boards:

This problem was with Canon...Canon used a special luminance-resistant, space-age, flexible, visible-electromagnetic-radiation shield specially engineered to solve the problem, further proving how Canon cares only about the customer, is the most loving company in the world, in their off time save dolphins and polar bears, and donates all their profits to handicapped Sudanese war refugees.

Sony would be that typical, conniving, untrustworthy company that cheated buyers and hurt the environment by sticking a piece of electrical tape in the body, further proof of how Sony is the Devil, and will eventually find some way to steal all the World's money, build a private volcano island surrounded by robotic sharks, and shoot powerful lasers at the moon to change the tides and trigger Global Warming and mass death.

sorry - Friday...felt like time for a little joke. Yes, it was a joke (except the part about Sony's volcano laser).

I'm not so sure. I think the Canikon folks view Sony users as a distant third place tier with much fewer lens choices and minimal use in the pro photography world.

I think most Canon folks are too busy lusting after Sony sensors.

Yes... the root kit. You know, the one that has all of your credit card numbers, social security number, mother maiden name, blood type, what you did last summer, eye color, weight, fat count on yesterdays breakfast, tin foil penetrating rootkit.

They fixed the loose front ring of the CZ135 with tape. And out of warranty it is very expensive tape.
