Thanks ww. Loved your photos too! We got paco when he fell out of a nest. He was maybe 4 weeks old. Raised him and he still shows up to eat. He'll jumps on our feet when we go out the back door!

Haven’t seen any of these yet, so I figured I’d post my own:

Tamiasciurus douglasii, AKA Douglas Squirrel, has to be my favorite sciurid. They’re the native tree squirrel in the coastal Pacific Northwest, and always entertaining to watch. Fearless, very vocal, fast and feisty: more than once I’ve seen a Dougie evict a non-native Eastern Gray Squirrel twice its size from the feeders we have set up in the yard. Eviction the other way around – an Eastern Gray ousting a Dougie – doesn’t happen if the Dougie doesn’t want to leave!
