Out of sheer boredom.....

....I went to some shots I took last weekend to see if there was something I could play with.
This is some hidden-away little path, going nowhere.
2 Versions:
First: Minimal PP in ACR

Second:
After playing with FilterForge, Nik SilverFX and blending modes:

You're right of course - but I love to experiment, and I usually end up with something recognizable, but absolutely NOT "true to nature"
Thanks for the feedback.

Your retouch is quite pleasant. Did "sheer boredom" compel the lovely soft look?

Yea, I guess.

Before I did anything else, I duplicated the background, applied a gaussian blur (5px) and set the blend mode to 'light'.
I rediscovered FilterForge and decided to have play with it.

And I always experiment with blending modes if I want to get away from the "true to nature" look.
Thanks for looking and commenting.

Glad you like it. The various color changes to the sky and leaves were done with Color Replacer (MV's plugins). I varied opacity selectively through a layer marsk.

I was hoping the (already) huge puppy would go unnoticed. But there are sharp eyed dudes around here...

Shoulda used the picture that I took a while back, when our neighbours' dog followed s around.
Would have saved you some work.
Anyway, thanks again for the play and the explanation of your work flow.

For a more natural look...
In reply to solyluna, May 1, 2012

1.Add a Hue/Sat. adjustment layer.

2.Click the hand with the arrow, hold the Crtrl Key and click the color you want to change...in this case, green.
3.Use a splatter type brush on the mask in different opacities.

Repeat steps for as many color leaves as you want.
