It's a hotshoe adapter, not a TTL adapter.

I think the primary use would be for wireless triggers (only need the center contact), or for thyristor flashes.

A tad overpriced for what it is. Wait for the copycats to start appearing.

Seeing as you know so much about what things should cost, please enlighten us all with your rundown of the processes required to get this thing into production?

Will you care to highlight the costs of soft tooling of the body? the electronic r+d required? the value added tax? the overheads?

I highly doubt this was made anywhere other than china. this is likely to be a rock bottom price.

why not support the original maker? or shell out for a pro camera if you cant bring yourself to pay reasonable prices for non mass produced items such as these.

NOBODY (= I !) needs such an expensive, senseless thing.
Must I buy a Nikon flash to use it

I use TWO (extern) Yongnuos (REAL flashes ) with $ 0.00000 extra cost.

NOT an oficial hotshoe
In reply to awmenard, Apr 28, 2012

It's an unofficial hotshoe. Sony would never make a hotshoe for Nikon flashes anyway.

Thyristor flashes can give excellent results

TTL is easier, of course, but the old fashioned thyristor flashes aren't too shabby. Even top-of-the-line models like Metz' 58 can dispense with TTL and use its own, built-in sensor. No such luck with most flashes from Canon, Nikon or Sony - until recently, in the case of Canon's Speedlite 580EX II, maybe to be followed by other brands.

Will this make my Nex-5 and a wireless transmitter do 7fps with studio strobes?
At 1/4000s?
