Is that a Smudge?
In reply to photogirl44, Apr 25, 2012

I really, really like what you did with the flowers. Very nice.

There is a touch of Van Gogh in there somewhere.

Is that a manual smudge? Did you use some other software/plugin?

I used the "oil paint" filter in Photoshop CS6 (which was a plugin named Pixel Bender in CS5). I then used a filter in Nik Color Efex 4 "lighten center/darken edges". No, it is not a smudge. Wish I knew how to smudge. That's on my list to learn. Glad you like it.

Hi photogirl,

i see you used the new plug-in in photoshop 6. Unfortunately it's not the old pixelbender oil paint plug-in. You might want to hang on to the cs5(.5) plug-in.

Nice effect though.

But for creating smudges, i found the older plug-in better then the new oil paint plug-in.

Just give me your thoughts.

When I watched a video about CS6, they talked about Pixel Bender oil paint plugin and how they made changes and placed it as a filter and entitled it "oil paint" . I know when I first used the CS6 filter oil paint, I hated it, but, after playing around with it, I really like the filter. Moving all the sliders makes many changes in the picture. It's alot of fun. So, maybe you can tell me how you make a smudge from using this filter or the one in CS5. Thanks for your input.

i never thought of approaching a wall paper company to make money from a photo.

don't forget what you did to get this effect.
i think i'll email a few companies and see if i can get a response.
