Set Focus method to DMF or MF.

Then the focus peaking options become accessible.

It has to be set to manual mode via the menu setting, not the button. Otherwise, the camera resets back to AF when you enter the menu.

Could you please clarify that a bit? What causes the camera to reset back to AF from DMF?

This is strange.. I have the 5n and switch focus modes one of the shortcuts on the soft center button. You don't have to go to the main menu for the focus modes to work.

Anyway, the next time you're at a store, just change the focus to DMF or manual focus, then you can set peaking. If you use DMF you have to half press the shutter button before being able to manually adjust focus.
