I'm more interested in how it is done. Is that some kind of oven or does he roast the chestnuts in open air?

it's not an easy scene to expose.

Thank you for a fragrant memory...

I spent the first 20 years of my life in metropolitan New York, where street vendors would roast chestnuts on the streets, and I can still recall the fragrance, even though it was 50 years ago (and earlier).

Unfortunately, diseases have hit chestnut trees in the states, and we don't see such large gorgeous chestnuts as you have captured in your pictures.

I hope you had some when you were in Cabo.

It is made in a oven inside the box, with charcoal and salt, but he puts the chestnuts on a ceramic pot

it's not an easy scene to expose.

Yes, it was not easy, I had the sun from the front left

Thank you, Isabel

Here we have good chestnuts on the north of Portugal, the man told me he goes there to get the best ones

And yes I had some, he offered me packs of chestnuts in change of the pictures, I told him that was not necessary but he insisted, he is a very nice and simple person

Hope soon they can cure the chestnuts trees, for you to have them again

They are really tasty and in winter is really good, and it is a good food for the organism

I like your taste in color rendering. It's more to my liking which is a bit poppy but I really like that.

On the topic chestnuts, do you think I can get away with microwaving them? I don't have an oven

Thank you

About the chestnuts, I guess on microwave is not good (and you have to make a cut for them not explode, like on the oven)

But, you can cook them in boiling water only, and make the cut also on each, put some salt and some fennel (anise) spice, them when they are cooked you eat them like they are or with a bit of butter, cooking time after the water is boiling is about 15 minutes but maybe take more depends how fresh they are

True, I only cared about the man, in regard to the high light not much to do, only with HDR, or with a Nikon D4 or similar

Pleased to see the GF1 still featuring here. It really is a good camera.
But once replaced ( I now have the GH2 ) the market price and interest crashes.

I have a GF1 body for sale £200 on Amazon UK but the only interest so far has been from three Nigerian scammers.

Yes, and not only GF1, many users still show images taken with the first Micro 4/3 cameras

Thank you for comment

First off nice shots. I take lots of vendor shots on the streets of Charlotte, N.C. I gave my son my old Nikon D200, but a few weeks later he told me that it was just to big to carry with him most of the time. I had just bought the G3, so after thinking about it, gave my GF1 to my son who is loving that camera. The thing about the GF1 was that it brought the fun back into my taking pictures and the G3 is doing the same thing.
