Show Your Snaps...April 9, 2012
Apr 10, 2012

We invite you again to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures.

This past weekend we finally had a good amount of sunshine, so I went to the beach. I had a great time, walking for miles from the town of Seaside to Tillamook Head and back. Along the way, I found many people. I hope you like these snaps.

We will start a new thread for this every week now due to the popularity. I'll be sure to comment also to your images, if you choose to share. Thanks everyone for your participation.

Photo No. 1 - This is a view of Seaside (seen on the far right side) from Tillamook Head. It was along this beach that I walked.

Canon T2i (550D), 18-55mm IS lens, ISO100, F9, 1/320, 29mm FL

Photo No. 2 - Here's some surfers near the shore. The colored water is due to plankton.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO400, F11, 1/800, 250mm FL

Photo No. 3 - This huge tree washed ashore which commonly happens in our area.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO400, F11, 1/1250, 179mm FL

Photo No. 4 - The young lady on the left is holding on to some wet sand. She put her hands in the wet sand to try and see if she could free them. She could not; so it became very funny once someone helped free her (or she got free somehow...I wasn't sure). A number of young children were trying this as a game and found that it would make them stuck.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO400, F13, 1/1000, 123mm FL

Photo No. 5 - As the day progressed, the sunshine began to disappear, and the water and sky changed to gray. They were playing with a volleyball without a net at Seaside.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO400, F13, 1/500, 109mm FL

Photo No. 6 - At Seaside, this is a very popular spot to use the camera. Often people pose at the statue.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO400, F13, 1/400, 79mm FL

Photo No. 7 - As I walked along the town of Seaside, I got a quick photo of these youngsters. The dyed hair seems to be becoming popular now. I liked the reflection that I got in the window.

Canon T2i (550D), 55-250mm IS lens, ISO800, F11, 1/250, 90mm FL

Canon EOS 550D (EOS Rebel T2i / EOS Kiss X4)

That's nice to see your photo. Finally we got a little sun in the Pacific Northwest where we can see some sunsets.

Your macro photos are interesting. My favorite zoo picture is the monkey with the baby.

Very nice! A bird in the yard is worth two in a bush. Yes, sometimes it's better to get the sure thing then to look all day for that bird in a wildlife preserve that we may never find. My favorite "bird in the hand" are the birds at the zoo. Next time I may get some really good ones...the tropical birds that are colorful.

That ship looks like it was designed by a summer trainee or something, it looks like as long as it's high Hope that there is not too much waves where that one sails... Very interesting looking one.

Nice shots digi! It's always great to see some everyday life around places. I'm a bit shy to take such shots where I live and on the other hand there is nothing much to shoot here anyway

Crisp and clear shots you got there, and again, I'm missing summer so much already. It's so d*m gray and miserable still...

Nature snaps
In reply to janzu77, Apr 12, 2012

Went to see an Otter's nest one evening this week. Didn't see the Otter himself but a few birds and sunset. Took a few ones anyway and here is a bunch of them:

"Divorce" ? Two Bucephala clangula, Goldeneye's I presume

Swans (Cygnus) that we waited to land, but they just showed us their underwings...

Another angle, too short lens again...

A scenery from the lakeside where we waited for the Otter & Swans to appear. Lakes are still frozen mostly, only the current areas are opening up.

Sun hazing through the bush of Willows

Some twigs on the shoreline

All shot with EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS. Snow is a bit grey on some of those but I was too lazy to fix up everything this time

Those are some nice nature snaps. It kind of looks like one of our wildlife preserves, except that we don't have snow. The whole area was flooded about 1-1/2 weeks ago, but now the water has receded some.

Thanks. Sometimes I'm a little shy too, but the shyness can prevent us from getting good photos. Like the last image for example; I was walking towards them and hesitated for a moment, but it was too good of a picture to pass up.
