Beautiful day for racing under bright sunny skies. All shot Raw, processed in View NX. C&C appreciated.

Since the horses are the obvious interest in any photos that have horses... it seems like you could have shot the entire animal, and not cut off their legs in all but one of these pics.

These are shot Aperture Priority, widest aperture. Shutter speed falls wherever, about 500-1250 give or take. ISO 200. Thanks, if you have any other questions, let me know. Oh one more thing, VR was off on my 55-300.

Thank you for your advice. Everyone has different tastes. There were cropped, as legs were all in originals.

I love the sharpness and clarity of the pics but I have to agree with TFergus (biting tongue) as it appears the subject here is the riders and the handlers. That's actually fine in my mind as all the pics do that well. I have horses so I actually enjoy pics of them that cause you to not notice the 4 legged money pits causing me to have very little funds left for photography just to keep my wife out of my hair when my feet aren't being stepped on and I have to feed the useless beasts in the rain and snow while......

I would clone out the people, the saddles, the bridles, all the other tack, and had nice pictures of horses...

(Mako agrees with me on that, too).

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos of the horses, riders and handlers. The quality is great as well. I recently bought the 55-300mm lens and I'm glad to see that it is so sharp. Most of all loved the horses.

Same here. I bought the 55-300 back in December when it was on sale and haven't had much of a chance to use it on my D50 yet. Glad to see it is a capable duo.

Yes, that was a great buy. I love the color rendition with my D50.

What...the world is ending, Mako, Tfergus and I all agree on something..W.ith horse racing the action usually is from the ground up, but all to your tastes....your the photographer. I do like that fourth shot though. Nothing wrong with the others, just with the racing shots should show more. Yes, Mako...we both picked wonderful money pits...horses and photography...although my mare had to be sold, couldn't ride anymore.
