Here are a few HDR shots I did in Zurich last Sunday (with my brand new Canon 5D Mark III). Hope you like them!

Overcooked? Depends on your point of view I think. A little perhaps but I really like the street scene.

No pro at HDR or anything, though the first one looks good. The overcooked comment probably because its being viewed in a small thumbnail.

What HDR software did you use for processing? I'm impressed by how little haloing there is in these shots!

Thought you might like to see this one - apparently shot from the same spot (in 2007), and, from the angle of the shadows, at almost the same time as yours. I applied a layer of Topaz Adjust HDR at 30% opacity, just to give you something to compare to your HDR treatment.

Why? - Re: HDR Zurich, Switzerland
In reply to sandrotto5d, Apr 7, 2012

I don't get it - a nice sunny day, why bother with HDR? It just makes them look like everyone else's overdone HDR shots ...

I think the 'over cooked' HDR has it's place. Some I like some I don't like.

But as to the question why? Why not? If we all took photos that all looked the same photography would be very boring. You may as well ask why take black and white.

IMHO photography is about creativity and not so much the technical stuff. If you can utilize HDR, even on a sunny day, and 'create' something a bit different then go for it.

regards

I like the street shot, perfect for HDR! Not a fan of the first two and the angle though.

hmmm I really dig the over-cooked look...it doesn't look like a normal photo...it's more like a painting...there's so much pop!

i guess it's personal taste

there is a place for both styles of HDR
