HS30EXR - long tail tit and an illusion
Mar 9, 2012

I've still got the H30 on the first charge of the battery and it's done just shy of 600 shots with full battery indicator.

It's my first bridge superzoom - I have a GH2 and K5 for other stuff, but wanted a 'throw it in the glovebox and if I see something shoot it' camera.

The bracket shooting is very fast - making exposure blending a breeze (see the reflection shot below) and as a birding camera it's fun being able to fill 1/4 the frame with a small bird from 20 feet away (though some NR artefacts are very visible at 640 ISO).

enjoy - hopefully as much as I'm enjoying playing with this camera .

NICE reflection (water?) shot! Nice framing, transition from subsurface to reflective surface. (is that what it is?)

I am absolutely baffled by the reflection picture.
My mind just can't work out how it was taken.

Its a great photo.

My own HS30 is due to be delivered today from amazon uk.

he's shooting the rock itself and the water beside the rock. The reflection is of the blue sky and cloud reflected in the water.

Take photo into a lake that has rocks under the water on the shore. Top of photo just fits in trees on other side of lake, bottom of photo just misses water line. Turn photo upside down. There it is.

And thanks :).

Wonderful although it is best to not go over ISO-400 if shooting in JPEG.

Thanks - I'll see if we can get some sun over the weekend and re-try some bird shots at 400 and below.

I like the images----- especially the second one!

Someone should do an experiment and compare the HS20 and HS30 at higher ISO and see if the HS30 really is 30% better or just applies more NR

Rotate 180 degrees. Never saw it. Don't like scary movies.
