LR4 vs. LR4 (beta): any major changes?
Mar 7, 2012

I've been using the beta version of LR4 and ordered LR4 at B&H last night. I don't want to download the new LR4, but wonder if anyone has done so and noticed any big changes from the beta version.

Thanks,

John

The changes from the beta are listed on the Lightroom blog:

And it doesn't crash every half hour like the beta.

Do you know where the changes/improvements from LR3 to LR4 are listed?

The released version has a bug, that wasn't in the beta, that prevents using third party applications using the Edit-In feature. Adobe is working on a fix.

I use LR4 now and I solved this problem by downloading the updated application files for Nik Viveza 2, Silver Efex 2 and Color Efex pro 4 from their web site and re-installing. They all work fine now.

Those are the only plugins that I have so I can't speak for the rest.

Probably means you have Photoshop or Elements installed on your computer.
If it can't find either one, then it ignores other editors and plug-ins

Adobe is promising a fix in about 2 weeks. They know how to fix it, but they won't release a patch until they find fixes for some of the other problems.

I really do know better than to buy the first release of a new version of software, but all the comments on the Beta were so positive.

Same story here. I was like "I should wait, it's a .0 release" then "but new toy"

The 2-week delay is probably for two reasons, the one you stated (to make sure they aren't missing other fixes that need to be rolled in), and also to have time to test and verify the fixes were both successful and harmless.
