Tiny mushroom....X10
Feb 27, 2012

I actually had a couple hours after work today to take a few pictures so I headed out into the woods to see what would catch my eye.

It has been raining today & the clouds are heavy so I had to look close to find a subject...

This mushroom was so tiny poking up out of the leaves, maybe 5/16-3/8" across the cap.

Taken in "Super Macro" mode, f2, iso 100, DR100, "Astia" film mode at 12mp.

My X10 continues to thrill me with it's color reproduction & lens quality.

Thanks for looking.

Dan.

One more from today....
In reply to DC Alford, Feb 28, 2012

One more from this afternoon with my X10.
The first Dianthus bloom of the season has already opened.
Taken just after the rain ended & the sun made an attempt to come out...

Not an easy to color to photograph!

Thanks,

Dan.

Now that gives me a reason to find tiny shrooms in my backyard. Thanks for sharing!

Yep thanks Ian!

Mushrooms are always worthwhile!
Worth searching them out.

Dan.....Colour not bad but the main subect of the picture is at least 50% out of focus. The leaf on bottom left seems to have more focus. Also the green at the top of the pic should be cropped out.

Dan,

The mushroom shot is especially lovely. I enjoy how the DOF slowly fades away beginning with part of the mushroom's cap.

Colors are nice and rich...a wonderful low-key shot. If it were me, I might consider a nearly square crop...losing some of the upper part of the frame and background and keeping the attention on the mushroom. Just a thought.

Shooting after rain is good for saturated colors...well done!

I think I saw some mushrooms like these growing on some of the feet of my military buddies when I was in the US Army. In fact maybe on my own feet @ the time. lmao

Very very nice shot and enjoy it a lot. Keep them coming.

I seem to be back now for awhile.

Best regards, Gary N W SFO

Thanks Tim.

I was very close to this little thing, had my open hand on the ground & the camera smashed down into it. Can't quite bring myself to put my x10 in the dirt yet!

That was what I was attempting to do & it is tough to nail the focus right on the front of the tiny cap LoL.
Thank goodness for the selectable AF points!

Great suggestions Tom. I have since edited this one & will post it later, would love to hear your thoughts on the final version.

Yep it seems to bring out alot of subtle tones & transitions you don't get in a higher contrast light.

Thanks for looking & your thoughts on this one!

LoL I have been there with my feet as well! Wet boots have a way of doing that to poor tired feet.

Glad to see your here & posting, maybe it was a hiccup in the DP system?

Thanks for looking!

After an enchanting photo like that, don't even think of letting that bad boy play in the dirt.

Iit occurs to me if a cam gave me that kind of result, I'd probably be too afraid to take it outside again...for fear that something bad might happen to it.
