M9: Storm pics
Feb 24, 2012

Greetings. Though I've been visiting & making the odd post here & there in this forum, I've never posted an image (I basically post to flickr exclusively). Doing so hopefully makes me bonafide now Below are a couple of pics taken in the past couple of weeks. Due to the size of these event, I've switched to doing some handheld panos with the M9, and it's turned out quite well I think. Hope you enjoy these.

▲M9 + Summilux 50mm (2 handheld shots stitched together)

▲M9 + Zeiss 21mm F2.8 ZM (3 handheld shots stitched together)

Cheers

Michael.

These are both excellent.

First image is beautifully framed. I am undecided whether I would crop the bottom bit that tightly myself; but a minor point it is as the image is simply beautiful.

You also did exceedingly well with the second image especially stitching when there are people and movement. Another very pleasing image to the eye. Did you do much in post with the clouds or were they as threatening as they appear? The heavens were clearly in league with you for both images.

I do hope you will post more now that you have started. I shall look forward to your images. Thanks for these.

David

Unfortunately it was a necessary crop due to some ugly materials below that, which had to go.

Yes they were very threatening & it was rather windy as well - lifeguards were calling out people to exit the surf, not that it had much influence on others on the beach. I did do some contrast enhancement, but not much. I had to clone out some ghostings due to the stitching.

Thanks again,

Michael.

the second one is awesome. distortion where the buildings are "leaning back" is a little distracting, but otherwise well composed, exposed, and balanced

Hi,

Simply stunning cloud photos. You seem to have captured the real turbulence of the storm. No. 1 is my favourite because of that extra luminosity.

Keep it up.

Thanks alot everyone for your feedback. It's appreciated.

@nathaniel, well spotted about the buildings. Regrettably, the distortion kinda wrecked a number of buildings, and I had to correct some in Photoshop, but I obviously did not fix it all so well

Cheers

Michael.

It is due to resizing artefact. The original resolution is perfect.
