Some photos with my NEX-5N and new Voigtlander 35mm F1.4
Feb 17, 2012

Hi All,

I'm just back from a trip and have edited a few photos taken with the Voigtlander. I bought it in New York and love the rendering of the lens. It is the uncoated version for those interested.

I will post more soon. C&C welcome.

Thanks,

James

Great set of pics, that lens seems to do a great job. Also, very nice pp. These are some of the nicest pics that I have seen on the forum in a while.

You said this lens is uncoated. I believe it's single-coated, to mimic the olden days lenses lower contrast. Probably no modern lenses are uncoated.

Looking good.

On an aside, if I was King I would ban nutcrackers like this, all of them, anywhere. Big burning pyre of them which I would dance naked round. There, I said it!

All goes back to shooting effing nutcrackers in the middle of summer and reminds me of how much I hated shooting catalogues even though I made gobs of money

OK I'm alright now. Les

Do you mind sharing the camera settings for these pics other than the default. Any special pic effect selected? Thanks!

Thank you all for your comments.

As for vignetting, I haven't noticed any with this lens.

I'm planning on using this as my only lens for the next couple of Months and see how using this fixed focal length works out. I'm more used to a 28mm focal length, but find the 52mm equivalent really refreshing as it gives me a different take on my usual photo spots.

Thanks again,

James

Jimmy don't you read any posts around here? Don't you know this is a highly flawed lens?

How dare you post these nice shots with such an "un recommended" piece of glass!

Great pics!
I really like the color rendering.
Colors looks like a bit desaturated giving a nice 70s 80s filmdays feel.

Don't confuse objective opinions of this lens with emotional unrecommendations. Many of us who do own it point out the positives and negatives before people rush out to spend $600. Lowlight and shallow dof shots are exactly what this lens is good at. Corner to corner sharpness, not so much.

Fwiw, to the OP, this lens is actually single coated, but today's single coating is probably as good as multi-coating from 30-40 years ago, so it's kinda "vintage Multicoated."

Thanks for the info on the lens coating. Whatever it has, I like it.

Cheers,

James

Nice!

I had thought of getting the 1.4, but ended up getting the Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 Color-Skopar II. I like its sharpness as well as its size!
