Actually MirrorlessRumors found those links. The admin also preordered there:

The shop is quite reputable!

I'd probably be all over this at that price. Since it's a pre-order they can change the price though.

X-Pro1 preorders are "no longer available" from Expansys in Canada or the USA, but many of their European branches are still taking orders.

Expansys is a big internet electronics dealer based in Hong Kong, with branches in many other countries. No storefronts, but some countries have local pickup points for orders.

I found plenty of customer reviews on UK and Australian websites. Many people are happy with the company and are regular customers. Many others say it's their worst online shopping experience ever. The most common complaint is bad customer service.

If it's too good to be true...
In reply to texviddy, Jan 10, 2012

... than it's not true. If everyone else is selling for $1700USD body only there is no way this price will be honoured. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble! OR everyone else has over charged and will have to honour the lower price. But that's not going to happen!

(And quite frankly I'm surprised that adults still fall for this kind of thing!)

Hi Vern,

I am inclined to agree but I put in a pre-order just to see what happens , there are no fees upfront , and no payment details taken till the item is in stock .So it costs mothing to play along and I have bought a couple of things from the company over the years .

FYI, they do not appear to be an authorized Fujifilm dealer.

Reputable or not, they're not going to take a $600+ hit on a new camera. As a matter of fact if they're not a Fuji dealer they'll probably sell for more than list price in the end. Anyway - good luck!

Except that no one is selling it for $1700. Amazon had it at that price for 40 minutes and then they pulled it. I would be more skeptical if Fuji had announced a price, but for now, all is speculation as to what the price will be.

It was a scam.

I'd be worried now that this company has all my credit & personal information had I fallen for this.

Definitely added to my "don't buy from" list.

They do not take any details or deposits simply a pre-order with confirmation number for tracking when the camera comes in stock. And they are a reasonably well know company, from whom I have bought the odd thing in the past. And looking at the consumer reviews what complaints there are, are down to slow delivery times.

Price is NOT true
In reply to texviddy, Jan 11, 2012

http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=246904

In summary Expansys are now saying the price they displayed for a while was a mistake

“This price was incorrect, and was the estimated price for the X-Pro 1 body alone, and not the complete kit with 35mm f1/4 lens. The price should not have been set at this stage as we haven’t had confirmation from the supplier on an idea of the cost price. Our expectations are that the actual price will be at least circa 25-30% higher.”
