Purchase D4 or wait for D4s?
Dec 18, 2011

Thoughts?? Nikon usually follows a short time later with "s" model.
I currently have the D3s and am very satisfied.
Don't need high resolution of D800 so I am in no rush

Nikon D3S Nikon D4 Nikon D800

Depends on your definition of "a short time later". Nikon seems to follow up with an S model update halfway through the life of the major model. In the past this has meant an S update about two years after the introduction of the major model. This is followed 2 years later by the introduction of the next generation.

So if you are asking yourself whether you should wait for the D4s, what are you going to do when the D4s is announced? Ask if you should wait for the D5?

Why wait for the D4 5 6 7 8 etc just think its like waiting for death, I have better things to do with my D3 that is is set up well and takes dam geat pictures with my 24 - 70 lens and 70 to 200 lens.

What else can Nikon do to it, well wireless would be nice and commander mode.

Without your 10000th time to say this, how else would we know?!

Good thing you are here to police our rumors. You are a credit to your nation.

The D4 will surely be a step up in some way from the D3s. At some point you need to jump in. Personally I went for the D3s. Like us all you and I don't know what the D4 will hold, and we haven't seen an independent review.

I do wonder sometimes the value of these sorts of questions. If you don't want to get the D3s now or D4 soon then a conclusion to be drawn is that you are happy with your current DSLR. If you aren't get an upgrade now, if you are go out and shoot and forget about crystal balling....

Maybe the point is that speculating on whether one should buy the upgrade version of a yet to be announced product, and which we know nothing about, is like looking into a crystal ball so we can find another crystal ball so we can tell the future. Madness

I saw this thread and got a good laugh. Purchase one non-existent camera or wait for the next non-existent camera?

Why bother, you already have a legend. I use a D700 and want something better at high iso and thinking of the D3s.

I heard that the D6s is going to be well worth waiting for as well. I would give that some serious thought. Or was it the D7s that I heard was going to be a camera that was well worth waiting for.

as far as I'm concerned... (it's a joke no doubt, but!!) I still hurt from buying my D2h then having Nikon offer the D2hs just a few months later. Man I hated that time and the D2hs was perfect.

You are joking, yes? I mean to post that you're going to wait for an update of something that hasn't been announced yet. I mean you aren't suggesting to wait for the D4, but for it's update. Silly. Really.
