I bought an EX1 :-))
Nov 10, 2011

This tuesday

I was initially going to buy it in May when i reserved it with Currys London East Ham at their clearance £158 to replace my Ricoh GX100. Having since done more reading on LX3/5, S95, XZ1, G12, P7100 & testing them in shops, EX1 was still the one for me.

Really like its build & lens & live view & front dial changing shutter, rear wheel changing aperture & Metering button & Fn button bringing up all the important changeable settings.

(Will quickly say & this must have been said before, the top drive wheel around the power button imo would have been more useful as exp comp,
the DISP on rear wheel would have been more useful as WB (White Balance).

I got mine ex display with around 2200 shots already on it. The manager took this into consideration when lowering the price.

:

Just a couple of jpegs from today with my usual basic processing in LR3 & light usm in gimp.

Thanx Strata

Really liking its ease of use & dedicated buttons & controls (one reason i preferred it above LX5, s95, XZ1). Have just an hour ago set up the multi focus point selection.

apsc vs ex1 Re: I bought an EX1 :-))
In reply to noobdprseller, Nov 11, 2011

I did a quick test with my Sigma SD1 28mm F4 (i suppose it is kind of equivalent to apsc dslr with kit lens wide end 18mm F3.5).

Low light :
SD1 apsc @ 28mm F4 needed iso 400
EX1 1/1.7@ 28mm F2 needed iso 100.

EX1 lens at F1.8 just as sharp as SD1 at F4. To me that's saying something as the DP1 lens is something else, some have said as good as any wide Leica eg the WATE (wide angle tri elmar).

Focus point selection & RAW Re: I bought an EX1 :-))
In reply to noobdprseller, Nov 11, 2011

Happy using focus point selection. No longer hunting for AF. I like the way Samsung has implemented it.
Now only shooting RAW having readup on dpreview forumees tests.

Liking what it can do.

These are from RAW unsharpened, compressed to about 650kb.
Glad LR3 supports .SRW
