Trying out my new V1 (imgs)
Nov 9, 2011

A couple of snaps from today. Seems like a nice fun camera. This was using the 10-100mm Nikon power zoom. Nice lens by the way.

Images straight from camera. No additional sharpening ect. Wish the last pic was a tad sharper though.

Comments welcome.

I'm still trying to get used to the camera. Left it on auto like recommended.
So far so good. More tests tomorrow. Maybe so video too.

Did you close both eyes?
In reply to NeilJones, Nov 9, 2011

Neil to be frank these are all bad - what went wrong? Did you close both eyes during shooting, you probably know the camera doesn't frame and compose the pictures for you. And either you didn't wait it to focus before shooting or there is something terrible wrong with your camera.

Looking at your gallery, you know you can do much better than this.

Better luck next time.

Well, I happen to have 20/15 vision and honestly most of those are NOT in focus. The last one was over exposed, one of the hazards of auto mode IMHO. I would experiment with Aperture Priority mode (that would be A) and set the aperture at F8 with that toggle at the top right (you'll see it change in the screen at the bottom). Hold steady. I would of course assume you're set to "Mechanical" shutter. Give it a whirl and hold steady when you shoot

With all due respect Neil, if these were the best Pictures the V1 with that very good lens could do I don't think anyone would buy them. I have the same lens and camera and I know what they are capable of. I think you are just spoofing us, maybe?

These snaps are a practical joke, right?
Not quite subtle enough to be funny though.

I was going to say something too, but I didn't want to offend the guy Even in full auto mode, the camera should not have produced photos like this (the out of focus blurry ones).

A wonderful portfolio. The funniest thing of all was those critical posts from those that just didn't get it.

I actuall like the squirrel shot though.

...buy the latest of the latest Nikon K1 ? ...or is it the W1 ?

I'm so impressed I that I'm going to throw my 3 days old J1 in the dustbin and get myself the same version as the one you have !!!

BTW, does the lens have the famous newest VRVIII version ?

I just love the way the V1 decides the best image framing. Beautiful work!
