Good news! Fuji will repair sticky blades even after warranty period
Oct 30, 2011

This is what Fuji says about it:

" Unfortunately we do not offer SuperWarranty on an X100 as this is classed as a professional camera. If you experience any problems after the 12 months,we will address the issues as and when. With regards to the known issue, if you experience problems with these after the 12 months warranty is up, we will resolve these free of charge.
Sorry for any inconvience this may cause.
Thanks
Sarah Phillipson "

Remember this name, Sarah from Fuji. She will repair our professional camera.

First thing Monday morning I'm going to call Fuji China and see if they will honor Sarah's statement.

I would not think so. Received an email from Fuji Australia last week that said no such thing.

I am waiting on David's reply about where Sarah is, which country etc.

I would imagine the common sense thing is to purchase an X100 in her country. Depending where it is it will almost certainly mean having to purchase overseas for me (I am in Australia too).

Not too worried though because I'd have to send it to Fuji Australia anyway if there was an issue with it, but if its overseas where I have to return the camera to then this only means its in the air for a few more hours. No big deal at all.

So, if David can get back to me with where Sarah is and some more info I'll be on the hunt right now to place my order somewhere reputable in her country. No hesitation at all.

Please reply David.

Thank you

I see from David's profile he is in the U.S.A.

I am assuming Sarah Phillipson works for Fuji U.S.A. If so this is great for all those in Australia who are hesitant about purchasing the X100 over concerns about the "sticky blades" issue occurring after the warrantee has expired.

This is seriously good news for me and I imagine many Australian's because the strength of our AU dollar gives us a nice saving bonus when purchasing directly from the U.S.

If Sarah is in Fuji U.S. then the good 'ole U.S of A is about to do a rip roaring trade in selling X100's to Australians, that's for sure.

David, can you kindly get back to me with more details about Sarah Phillipson - who and where she is please.

I am seriously excited over this.

Cheers

Actually thinkiing about it some more, I would not be too surprised if many people all around the world now look towards the US to purchase their X100's.

Providing this safety net of assurance is something that many have been waiting on. Now it appears to have finally arrived.

Cheers

You do realize that 9 months after the cameras release, the X100 is still extremely hard to find in the US? When B & H or Amazon get a shipment, it is usually sold out in a few hours. For whatever reason, Fuji is not sending X100's to the US in large quantities. Maybe they are all coming to China, where it costs $1550 to get one.

How should the customer know if one is or is not allowed to speak on behalf of the company? If I get an e-mail from Fuji it doesn't matter if it was written by the CEO or the liftboy.

Anyway, this is her linkedin profile

Update...

Sarah Phillipson is from Fuji U.K. everyone.

So, if you are worried about the sticky blades issue destroying your camera after the warrantee has expired then get your X100 from the U.K.

Here is a link to the actual post that quotes the guarantee from Fuji U.K. ....

http://www.x100forum.com/index.php?/topic/2373-no-fuji-extended-warranty/page__view__findpost__p__25605

Could be a clever marketing strategy to attract international sales or it could be they are just leaders in doing the right thing by their customers. Whatever the case they have certainly got my business from the other side of the world!

EXCELLENT and well done Fuji U.K.

When large amounts of money is at stake companies have official offices that convey information about such. I would never trust my local Chevy dealer that they would service my car above and beyond the warranty. That promise would have to come from GM's corporate HQ.

Say your camera breaks 4 years from now due to a sticky aperture. Are you going to bring a print out of this email to Fuji and say fix my camera? Does this procedure really reassure you? I'd rather have a statement on Fuji's website, the way Apple does or even Fuji themselves did when they fixed their S2 sensors long ago.
