What operating system?

For me, think it's a Windows XP (Pro SP-3) thing. I have to open EOS Utility first, then connect the camera, and Utility syncs up with it. If I plug in the camera first and try to pick EOS Utility from the pop-up menu, it doesn't work.

I'm running windows 7, 64 bit since April 2010,and have never had a problem with EOS utility. When I plug my camera in, I turn the camera on, EOS utility starts up and works fine. If it's autoplay that's the problem just click the box on the left top corner that says always do this for this device then click the download images from EOS camera using EOS utility and next time EOS utility should open right up.

Yep, unless you get tired of autoplay and turn it off like I did.

Yes but autoplay doesn't come on after you check the box EOS utility then opens up all by itself.

Need help folks. Mine still doesn't open EU and download images automatically. It does nothing when I connect the 7D. Have to click on EU before download starts.
Autoplay doesn't show EU as one of the choices for pictures. Help!
TIA.

Motorola phone software on my Win 7 64 bit PC was preventing autoplay, I removed it and all was good again. It is a known issue with Moto.

Hope this helps someone.

Did you first connect your 7D and configure EOS Utility and save settings while the camera is connected? My Win7 doesn't show EOS Utility because I seldom have to connect any of my cameras.

Yes I did. Checked the box "open EOS Utility When camera is connected" Ok, then exit, but it doesn't stay checked.
Very frustrating. Thanx, all.
