Rainbow web - C&C welcome
Aug 22, 2011

Hi,
Found this colourful web in my garage today.
--> Quick, get the 105 macro!

The light was shining in from a side window and produced all these pretty rainbow colours in the web.
Would be good to hear your comments

I guess the colours must be caused by interference, like in a soap bubble?

Thanks!

just out of interest, here is the rainbow web owner, straight on.

Very nice, I have seen it when out in the early morning, but never captured it as you have.
Nicely done.

Thanks for your nice comments

I had never seen those colours before I opened the garage door yesterday and the light was by chance just right.

It helps the effect if the background is darker, so I put a dark sheet behind the web, and used a tripod with low ISO and slow shutter speed.

By the way there was almost no pp on the images, just a slight adjustment of contrast and vibrance and resized smaller

Pity I missed the recent Spider web challenge

p.s.

anyone interested in a discussion of the physics behind the colours, could take a look at this link I posted over in the Nikon forum

Catching the light in the right place sure made for a beautiful web-shot! Very nicely captured!
