Tokina AT-X 828 AF PRO 80-200mm f/2.8

I just spotted a Tokina AT-X 828 AF PRO 80-200mm f/2.8 Lens for Pentax (Item # 320715736214) in the fleabay for US $580 if anyone is interested. I don't know if a Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 Image Quality is good or bad. In fact, I know nothing about it. Other folks might know.

Cheers.

Ron

Hi Leopold,

Very good reviews in that link. Thanks for posting it.

If I didn't already own the Pentax-FA*80-200mm f2.8 I would probably buy that Tokina myself.

Sure looks like a lens that could fit well in my camera bag

Are you going to buy It?

Would you be interested in a manual focus Tokina 80-200mm f2.8?

Re: Leopold...

Hi Ron,

thanx for the offer but i'm presently looking for an AF Zoom lens that can go to at least 200mm to get with me in vacation and that can be use with the Tamron TC 1.4X when i don't want to carry my Pentax-67 M*400mm/4 when wildlife is not my primary subject.

Thanx again for the offer.

I will think before pulling the trigger on that Tokina lens.. i have 6 days...for now the Tamron 70-200mm Macro is in the first place.

For about $200 more than the Tokina you can get the new Tamron with a six year warranty. Also, the Tamron weighs 2.5 lbs (1.1kg) versus the Tokina at 3 lbs (1.4kg). I think I would go with the Tamron if I were you.

Re: Tokina AT-X 828 AF PRO 80-200mm f/2.8

Hi,

I own one, and although i can use it for some aplication, it is definetely a bad lens

It have a very pronouced Purple fringing on 2,8 at most situations that you have a moderate level of contrast. And in general, it have a blueish color cast on both mine K10d an K5 bodies.

Of course, i could have get a really bad copy, so if you could get it and test it, it would be better.

Other things that might annoy you is that Af is somewhat slow, and i can't get it focus pin sharp, even with af adjust +10 on K5. But if focus is right, it really is sharp, even at 2.8

Try this pics. Those are the better i could get with the lens.

One more thing: i get mine on ebay, and couldn't test or return the lens. Very sad
