D7000 and primes ?

I have decided, except for my excellent 55-300mm, to only get primes
They are just so much sharper

I have the 50mm f1.4G

I think I will get the 24mm f2.8D or the 20mm f2.8 D and the 85mm f1.8D (or wait for the new 85mm f1.8G !!)

now looking for something wide angle

Anyone have the 20mm f2.8 D or the 24 f2.8 D and could show me some pictures with the D7000 ? and comments ?

The reviews for both these two look very good!

It expensive and large, but the 24mm 1.4 works very well on the D7000.

yes, my dream lens, but its too expensive

Thats why I was looking at the better value lenses, e.g. the f2.8 range

I use an old 1980s 20 3.5 Nikkor and its so tiny and sharp!
Obviously MF only though. But for wide angels it's hard to miss focus really.

Look on ebay for those little guys.

I agree, I have the wonderful MF 28mm 2.8 AIS on right now. I use LV to focus, works really well, the magnifier is great as well in LV

Re: D7000 and primes ?

I have mostly primes, too... I love them for their cost as well as IQ. My kit consists of 300/4 AF (got it cheaper than either the 55-300 or 70-300 VR go for new), 60/2.8 AF (got it in a kit for net $40), 85/1.8 (bought new, it is my go-to portrait lens), and a 50/1.4 AIS (MF) lens.

My zooms are Tokina 12-24/4 Mk 1 (excellent lens, I find I like zooms in wide angle lenses as the difference in perspective is massive and can't be compensated for with moving back / forth) and kit 18-105 (very nice 'do-everything' lens, I don't use it much but for when I want to bring just one lens and I don't know what I need, this is generally it).

Cheers

I am using the same approach The small primes are l light weight and fun to use as well as very sharp.

I have the 50mm f1.4G

I have the D version and very happy with it.

I think I will get the 24mm f2.8D or the 20mm f2.8 D and the 85mm f1.8D (or wait for the new 85mm f1.8G !!)

My next lens will be the 24mm f2.8D because it has a little less distortion than the 20D. Unless I found the 20 at a much cheaper price.

Re: D7000 and primes ?

I wanted, but could not afford, the 24mm 1.4G. It is way out of my price range. So, I got the 24mm 2.8D as next best thing. I am delighted with this lens on my D7000 though! Nothing creative here, but below are a few quick snapshots I took after unboxing it. Will hopefully have time for more creative photos in the near future. Highly recommend the 24mm 2.8D though! I got mine used from eBay for about $230.
