telephoto attatchments

I'd like a bit more zoom on my nex and cant afford the 18-300, would one of these just clip onto the end of the 18-55mm lense

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-NEX-VG10-Fisheye-Telephoto-Cleaning/dp/B004AWOLKE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1304000987&sr=8-5

and if it did would the the focusing etc still work and would the picture quality be ok.

Don't be fooled by the "Professional" in the name. The image quality will be degraded, but the question is by how much. You will have excellent image quality with an old manual lens, but then you lose autofocus and camera controlled aperture. A good old lens will cost you the same as that "professional" kit, though.

Would the auto focus etc still work?
For £50 it might be worth it

Not only that but the NEX-VG10 has the 18-200mm which has a 67mm filter. The 18-55 has a 49mm filter as does the 16mm so they wouldn't fit naturally.

I'd follow rrfischer's idea of an old manual lens if you don't mind manual focusing and the lack of IS. As for which telephoto i'd reccomend something like the Nikon 80-200mm f4.5 which generally has very good reviews.

he didn't talk about the VG10 and also stated he hasn't the 18-200, so obviously he's talking about the 16 or 18-55 with 49mm filter size.

so your option is ok, but don't expect great quality images.

I have a 2X tele converter and I've never used it, simply because the lenses inside it give so much chromatic aberration and softness that it's much worse than resizing a shot without it.

So, mine is useless, don't know others.

Except the link he gave is for:

"Professional Sony NEX-VG10 0.40X Wide Angle Fisheye / Macro Lens & 3.5X Telephoto Lens Package This Kit Includes 0.40X Wide Angle Fisheye Lens + 3.5x Telephoto Lens + Cleaning Cloth + More"

So, while he was talking about 16 or 18-55 the product won't fit either of those lenses. But I just searched amazon and this one might:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Fisheye-Telephoto-Package-Cleaning/dp/B004AWZQNK/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1304008967&sr=1-12

But the important thing is as you say, the optical quality is likely to be low. Especially for the asking price.

A wide angle won't get you any closer, just widen the view.

There are multipliers that might work better, depending on the quality of course.

I have a 2x multiplier for my 70-150mm for really far away shots. Don't always use it, but have it handy.

Update: Reread your post a bit more carefully. You are using the stock lens, so I don't think there are any multipliers out. Any one know of one?

There is a specific wide angle, made for the stock lens: http://www.pcnation.com/optics-gallery/details.asp?item=DQ3693

Again, this won't get you any closer, but will give you a wider view which might help.
