Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

I just bought some very old Russian lenses, JUPITER-8 2/50, Collapsible Lens INDUSTAR-50 and INDUSTAR-69 2.8/28.

They are all M39 mount, so i used my Leica M39-> Nex adaptor.

The INDUSTAR-69 2.8/28 needed some modification for focusing right on my Nex.

Collapsible Lens INDUSTAR-50mm f/3.5

JUPITER-8 f2/50mm

INDUSTAR-69 f/2.8/28mm

Fantastic!

I hope you will post some sample images in this thread when you have a chance and give us your impression of each of these.

It just shows that you can go very compact on the nex w/o the expense of lecia lenses.

Plus they look incredibly cool!

Re: Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

I have the first two and I love them, but how's the industar 69 - I read somewhere that the M39 adapter doesn't work well with them, won't focus to infinity - that is for the chaika half-frame camera and the distance to the sensor wasn't the standard M39.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

I should read more carefully - exactly what kind of modifications did you have to do?

Should I get the separate M39 adapter just for this lens and weld it to it to the proper distance??
Cheers!

Re: Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

Great pics, it would be great to see samples from this lenses, I just order a jupiter 69 and an m39 adapter and will file it about 1.5mm (if i remember well).

The industar-50 look great, but can you collapse it completely ? won't it touch the CCD ?

Re: Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

For the industar 69 i just followed this thread...
http://blog.monouri.net/archives/51602456.html

It was a little difficult and i had to try many times to find the right position-length of the lens inside the housing.
I managed to focus between 30cm and infinity !

Here is a test-picture of this lens...

and here is a crop 100%, f/2.8 vs f/4

here same crop f/4 vs f/8

Re: Jupiter(s) on my Nex 5!

You can collapse it completely if you focus at infinity.

It doesn't touch the sensor , because the sensor is behind a plastic rectangular cover...

It's very easy. Don't follow the thread above. Just file down the three stop screws. Attach the lens part of the lens and focus to infinity (The Moon is best). Mount the front of the lens and make a new mark for the aperture. All in all an operation that takes five minutes.
