K-5, ISO25600, Practical Portrait....

No need for an introduction.. the images speak for themselves.

UNPROCESSED RAW: ISO25600, 1/200s

FULL SIZE RAW EXTRACTION(jpg):   http://www.bertin.ca/tmp/K-5/ISO/K5__1070_RAW.jpg

-

PROCESSED RAW: ISO25600, 1/200s

PROCESSED CROP: ISO25600, 1/200s

As with previous samples, this image was processed with nothing more than a single NR pass and little sharpening.

  • I also want to thank our good man "dgaies" for going far out of his way to provide us with these wonderful sample images! *

...the end

I think we all realized how well the K5's noise can be removed, and your PP skills help for sure!
can your buddy provide you with a shot with poor lighting.
It would be nice to have a ISO 25600 , shot at 1/60 for instance for example.

Thanks,
I mainly use Adobe Camera Raw, but LR3 uses the same engine.

I agree with the usefulness of the test.
And I will definitely ask to see if we can't get some 1/60s'ish samples.

Words I never thought I'd ever say: "For 25600 ISO that's pretty amazing!"

( I remember when 400 print film was "new" so perhaps this seems more amazing to me than it should. I imagine if you ordered 25600 speed print film they send you acetate, 20 dime sized silver nitrate crystals, and a glue stick. )

These higih ISO shot are amazing John. What I would love to see is a couple of LOW ISO shots that include the entire tonal range from black to white so I can assess the dynamic range of the K-5

Cheers
Dave

I'm sold. This really looks as good (or better) than samples that I have seen from high ISO late model Nikons. I love the pace of technology

Once the novelty wears off, I'm sure I'll try those out too

Wait a minute!

Are you telling me we Pentax users suddenly embrace high iso like FF DSLRs? I wonder if vari-angle LCD would be next for the K-3 next year. Boy oh boy!
