Nice Photo! Is it a Contax G Series lens?

Thank you George. Yes, the Carl Zeiss 35mm f/2 Planar in Contax G mount with adapter for use with micro 4/3 bodies. I also use the Contax 45 f/2 and 90 f/2.8. Beautiful, razor sharp glass.

Another shot with the G1-IR and Contax CZ Planar 35mm f/2 G.

Pop go the willows! Three days in the 80's was just too much and the willows leaves popped out. The other hardwood trees are more conservative and know that there is still potentially another month of cold weather ahead.

Wow. That willow tree shot is incredible. Makes it very hard to decide what to do about a new micro 4/3 body. It seems the Olympus ones have modest sensitivity to IR, and I have both the 45mm Planar and 90mm Sonnar G lenses. While the Olympus will not be nearly as sensitive to IR as a real conversion it looks like the GF1 has little out-of-box sensitivity to IR. Love to see any shots you have with the 45mm Planar if you have one. What adapter are you using for the lens?

Nice photo once again Carl. I have the same 3 Contax lens and I am considering purchasing an adapter. Can I ask which model you have? How to you find the focusing with the Contax G's on your m43 body?

I'm currently using the Kipon adapter, but really waiting for Robert's (Monza) adapter to ship. See: http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11575&page=8

I've become used to the un-orthodox focusing with the wheel on the adapter and it works fine. I use it on both my G1-IR and the E-P2, but I definitely prefer the focus assist on the G1. Too many button pushes with the Oly.

I'm using the Kipon adapter which is OK, but as noted in other reply in this thread about adapters I'm waiting for a better adapter from Robert. You can shoot IR with an E-Px, but will need a tripod for long exposures. Here is a shot of the same willows taken earlier with the 45mm Planar.

Carl,

I am impressed with all of the ir photo's except the 1st one that you posted. I have been shooting ir for about 4 years with a ir converted Canon G9. I purchased a G1 with the intent of converting it to IR, but I liked it for conventional images and have not yet converted it. I have some CZ Contax G lenses and am waiting for Monza's adapter to be available.

Were all the photos focused manually? They seem very sharp.

Did you focus with the LCD or the EVF?

Any suggestions.

Carl,

I viewed your gallery and saw that you took ir photos with the 7-14, 20mm, etc. Your gallery is excellent. You certainly demonstrated the ir potential of the G1.

Did you use MF or AF?

Following is a photo in Maui, I took with my first ir converted camera - a Canon G2. (I have posted 150 or so other ir photos in my gallery listed below). As indicated in my earlier post in this thread, I now shoot with a Canon G9, but am looking to upgrade. You are showing me an upgrade path your ir photos.

Howard,

AF works fine with the native m43 lenses and that is what I use with them. MF with the legacy lenses is also excellent and quite accurate with MF assist.

Carl,

Thank you for your response. Have you noticed any hot spots in any of the lenses that you used?

I have not seen any hot spot issues with most of the lenses I've tried. No issues with the Lumix 14-45, 45-200, and 7-14. Also, the Contax 35, 45, and 90 are fine. One lens that does exhibit a slight hot spot problem is the PanLeica 45 f/2.8 macro. I haven't tested my CV and canon lenses yet.
