It looks like you can now buy Chinese made L brackets. It looks similar to the Kirk. The side appears to be less deep, weight is 2 oz lighter, that's almost half the weight. The aluminum isn't as strong but maybe enough for its purpose. From the pictures it looks well made and the cost after shipping is almost $50 lower. This could put a dent into RRS and Kirk's L bracket business. I prefer to support small innovative companies like Kirk and RRS then go with a cheaper knockoff.

It seems that the Chinese-made L-bracket does not allow the use of a remote plug. Compare with the Kirk bracket: http://www.kirkphoto.com/L-Bracket_for_Canon_7D.html

It's a design flaw that will keep me from buying one.

Yes you are right, what were they thinking when they redesigned it.

Looks like you get what you get what you pay for. I use mine in portrait with a remote sutter release. Paying a $100.00 for this is not saving $50.00. It would cost me $100.00 for the piece of junk and another $150.00 for the one I would use =

$250.00, not much saving. Also doesn't fit the gripped 7D. And I also agree with Ken "I prefer to support small innovative companies like Kirk and RRS then go with a cheaper knockoff." Roger
