7D + 100-400 good combo ?

i went to the FM site to read reviews of the 100-400 L IS

one guy told this is a very good lens (on 5D) but when he tried it on two 7D's, he claimed it is not at all that good on this body ....

anyone with the same experience/findings ?

Mine is every bit as good or better due to the better AF on my 7D vrs my 20D but I have never been dissapointed with the 100-400L.

On the 50D this glass is exceptional , i would suspect with the 7D,s uprated features (AF control and AF points) it could be even better.

All taken with this combo. Great for daytime shots.

I think the 7D and the 100-400L is a great combo.
I just got this lens to shoot sports and soccer.
The range and reach are great.

Great combo for me -- but not exactly a walkaround lens

I can't see why not.

I have used this lens with 300D, 400D, 40D and now 7D and my copy is sharp and good, although I don't know what to expect as it is the only lens I have used for birding. Yesterday I used the camera for the first time with this lens but accidentally changed the settings so didn't realise till I got home something had gone wrong. Still I can show you 3 and you can decided for yourself if you would be happy or not. Very heavy and really needs the converter for birding but I had forgotten all winter about having to tape down the pins, so used it without the converter,so the birds are a little too far.
