A question about Pentax KA manual focus lenses
Oct 4, 2009

Will old KA lenses (like the 50mm 1.7) work with pentax DSLR's? I'm referring primarily to metering functions. Will Pentax DSLR's meter with older manual focus KA lenses? Are there some DSLR's that offer more compatibility with older KA lenses?

I have read several reviews where they mention that you can fit any old Pentax K mount lens on newer DSLR's, but I haven't read any details about what will be functional. Kind of like the Nikon F mount situation; older AI lenses can be used with any new Nikon DSLR, but metering functions and aperture priority functions are non existant with some models.

KA lens are denoted as 'SMC-A'? If so I believe the metering will work normally, not stop-down.
