Interesting, looks smaller than E-P1, with internal flash, no EVF.

Per the author of the post, the picture is from an internal PDF documment from Panasonic.

That looks awesome!. looks like it has a pop up flash as well. OR maybe it is a pop up EVF!!??! And, an AF illuminator lamp!

Any indication in the text as to where the GF1 is to be manufactured?

...great addition. I suppose Panasonic will remain true to in lens I.S a con for me. But I prefer the E-P1 looks anyway... now i'm drooling to the thought of having that lumix prime side by side with my E-P1+17mm combo

Looks like the Canon G10 with the lens cut off.

Sold my e-p1 because it's quite tough to use with social situations (where smaller cameras are needed for me) where slow focus and lack of flash can be a problem.

This Panasonic should solve these issues, too bad there is no in body IS but not a deal breaker. EVF is no big deal to me.

It is thinner and lighter than e-p1 because of no internal body IS. The flash is pop up. No sure if the "VF" can be an EVF attached to the hot shoe.

But I like the 20/1.7 and the 45macro (f/2.8?) lenses.

The 45mm lens is a Leica?
In reply to cid91, Aug 6, 2009

Interesting. I was previously interested in that lens, though I'd prefer something faster; now there's no chance I'll ever be able to own one.

Flash fuels a tiny bit of skepticism...
In reply to cid91, Aug 6, 2009

Look how close the flash is to the lens mount. If this is for real, that flash is going to have to be a tiny flip-up job, not an LX3-style pop-up.

If it's a hoax, kudos to the hoaxster. Very, very good job.

This is nice

But I really want to get my grubby hands on the 20mm f1.7 lens. That would be walk-around for most of my purposes.

I think a detachable EVF is an OK idea, but it is certainly something you don't want to loose like a lens cap. I use the EVF on the G1 a lot, so I would miss it if it were not attached.

The only problem I see with the cam is it is not quite there in appearance to radically differentiate itself from the dSLR crowds. It really needs a metal-alloy sealed body IMHO to kick entry-level dSLRs in the pants. Everything else is there.

That must be where the detachable EVF goes.

I don't understand what you mean about the switch, but I realize it's a Panasonic/Leica lens. My point still stands; it's going to be too expensive for me.

Panaleica is usually significantly more expensive than plain old Lumix-branded.

Port below hotshoe?
In reply to cid91, Aug 6, 2009

In the center photo showing the back of the camera there appears to be some kind of port to plug something in (external VF?) just below the hotshoe. However, it's the one thing on the camera that isn't shown in the parts and controls list. Frustrating!
