I wasn't expecting any more updates to your already helpful 7D book, so it was a surprise when you sent the scene cookbook appendix. A welcome surprise. I hope to try out the fireworks one on July 1 (Canada Day) because I've had troubles in the past capturing them in a useable image.

I look forward to your Sony 9D book.

I just bought the online book as well and I agree that it is a great book. I'm about 1/2 of the way through it and I have learned a lot about the 7D that I did not know.

I bought the book while my camera was in New Jersey getting repaired and received the supplement just before it was returned. Now I'm really excited to try out all his great advice. I only wish the weather would cooperate.

Can anyone tell me (D7D owner), which of the three options on Gary's site I should order?

Agreed, Gary Friedman is a true gent and his book is brilliant.

I tried some of the recommendations in his new appendix and they work very well indeed.

Hey, I look forward to the Sony 9D; much less the book!

Thanks to all of you for all your kind words. It's nice to know that a product you truly care about is appreciated this much. I wrote a technical book almost 20 years ago with the same amount of enthusiasm ("Control the World with HP-IL"), but I guess either the audience was limited or it didn't resonate as well.

On another note, a few weeks ago I posted a new category on the website; 90% of these shots were taken with the 7D: http://www.friedmanarchives.com/Carribean/index.htm

Sincerely,
Gary Friedman

You scared me! I just printed the whole book out yesterday, and I thought there was something I missed. I agree about the fireworks. In 1976, I did a whole roll of fireworks with my SRT-101 with the std. 50mm F1.7 lens on a tripod. I used bulb and long forgotten lens settings, but A friend "called" the exposure. There were only a couple of out of focus shots. I have never tried again, but we get together with the same couple every July 4th, so I may do a 30th anniversary this summer. Good luck on your shoot.
