The sensor cleaning system is not 100% effective (not even 20% effective imo) I have had my 400d for over a year now and have a dirty sensor since the first week I bought it, had it sent to Canon for a proper cleaning but they only managed to get 50% of the muck off. However having recently come back from a holiday where I changed lenses quite a number of times I've notice significant number of dust spots on my photos with sky shots. The 400d is a great camera, but don't expect it to help you too much for preventing a dirty sensor. Kam
