Hi
Got back home from some car-racing today. First real action-shots for me, with this 5-days old camera now - Coolpix 5700. http://genjala.image.pbase.com/u12/joker66/medium/3081598.DSCN0535.jpg
All in all, the camera turned out pretty good I must say, the handling much more responsive than my previous Minolta Dimage 7 - that was sloooow. I've set the CP to "Shutter Release speed" to Quicker, and used the autofocus all the way. Somethimes I'd locked the AF where I knew I would take the picture, then follow the car until it hit my magic spot. Most of the times I just follow the car and the AF found the distance. I felt in controll of the timing, since the shutter snaped the picture almost instantly when I pressed the release button. A totally different feel than the old D7.
All in all i have some 150+ picture after the race, and I probably deleted 30-50 picture during the takings. I mostly used the EVF, the LCD only for some viewings checking focus, exposure etc. I guess I took about 150 picture before the first battery went dead. Then I had been taking picture for some 2,5 hours.
Mostly I tried to use as slow shutterspeed as I could, to get a good panorama-speed feeling. But, these digicam's have a little problem: Not very small apeture and no less than 100 ISO, in good sun that's at least around 1/125 - 1/250 seconds shutterspeed. I'm gonna order me a neutral filter ND4x to reduce it down to 25 ISO.
So - am I satisfied with the camera for action photography? Yes, indeed! It was a good expirience.
You can find some 23 picture in the Car-racing album: http://www.pbase.com/joker66
I will work with some of these in PhotoShop sunday, and post a new message when they are done.
Any comments are welcome... :)
