Increasing flash recycle times???
Jun 14, 2004

Is it possible to increase the recycle times of battery operated flashes such as the Vivitar 283/285, the Olympus FL-40 or the Nikon SB-80 by increasing the input voltage? I currently am using a 6 volt SLA battery (THE JACOBS BATTERY PACKS) along with adapters that install in the AA battery compartment that give a little better recycle time than my 2300 NMH batteries. What would happen if I increased the input voltage by using a 12 volt SLA battery? Could the flash circuitry handle it or would I burn or short them out? Are faster recycle times a function of voltage input, amperage input, a combination of the two or by the limits of the internal circuitry?
Thanks
Michael
