Methanol and Gauze to Clean CMOS?

Hi all,

In my quest to find some Eclipse in Toronto Canada (I know Vistek sells it, but $17.99 for 2oz is a bit steep). I stopped by a local camera shop, and asked the guy what he recommends:

He went on a long winded story about using a blower blah blah, I told him I had already tried that. He then went on to say that he’s heard “that you can use Medical Gauze and Medical grade Methanol using Angled tweezers). There’s a store at Bathurst and Dundas, the name escapes me, that sells it. He also said Nikon buys their Methanol from this place! He also said the Canon head office uses this method.

Now this all sounds very cool, except medical gauze is not a single piece of smooth material it has quite a few holes? Any ideas? Would this work? Double up on the Gauze?

I plan to use the Spatula method. There's no way I'm gonna use tweezers any where near the sensor

Ben
