Back focus

Yesterday I ordered a D70 with the 18-70 lens, today I found this forum and am dismayed to find there are problems with it, could someone explain what Back focus is or even give an example and how prevalent is it,I am 70 years old on a pension so there is no question of buying another lens, would appreciate any response
