70-200 f2.8L for HighSchool Football
May 24, 2004

Here is my dilema. My nephew plays QB and will be moving up to High School this year. In the past I have shot with the 75-300 IS USM lense and to be honest it flat did the job! His games were on Thursday's at 6:30 and light was usually great. I often found that shooting at 300mm was to much reach for junior high.

I know the knocks on the 75-300 and it does not have the fast apeture the 70-200 f2.8 does. Now his games will be on Friday nights and this is my problem. I need to know from everyone who as used the 70-200 f2.8 if I will be happy shooting with it. For High School does it give you the reach you need? I will be on the sidelines roaming. Will it perform under the friday night lights wide open at ISO 400-800?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input. PS if anyone has a killer deal on one I would appreciate knowing the offer.
