would using a lens hood help the problem ??
Vera

Hi Vera,

A lens hood might help, but I don't think it will eliminate the problem completely. Like you I get this problem when the light source is in the frame and coming directly into the lens. Shooting sunsets with the sun still visable and off to one side is a classic example of when this fault may appear. The problem is the red dot fault is intermitent, it only seems to happen every now and then. Typically when it does rear its ugly head it ruins an otherwise nice image. Using a lens hood in these situations will at least serve to reduce the risk of flare; and light entering the lens at the wrong angles.

Regards

Simon
