Interesting observation: amongst digital camera makers, I think that only Fuji offers both a big EVF one-piece digital camera with a fast wide ranging zoom lens and also an interchangable lens DSLR. Even #1 Canon has shrunk away from the one "big lens" digicam they used to make, and Canon knows EVF's. Are they all making bets on one side or the other of the EVF digicam vs entry level DSLR contest? Or do they all think that such products compete too much with each other so that it is not worth offering both options?

Fuji is unusual amongst DSLR makers in that they do not make lenses for those cameras; companies that do make lenses for their DSLR's have more reason not to offer the option of staying with 2/3" format. Since Olympus has a whole range of new lenses that they want to create market volume for, and the E-xx is even closer to the interchangable lens DSLR's in being an SLR, it is very hard to imagine a relatively small company like Olympus continuing to develop both lines.
