Help with Epson 1280 printer settings

I have an Epson 1280 printer and I have down loaded the new print drivers and after I did that I can not make the printer keep the default setting for the custom setting. I can go to start and printers and set the custom settings but when I go to print it is set back to the basic settings and then I have to reset the custom settings.
Can anyone help me
